Dressing for Your Session | What to Wear Client Style Guide for Family Sessions | Nashville TN Photographer
Personally, I think the hardest part of family sessions are coordinating outfits between the whole family.
Outfits can go from white tees and jeans, to being formally dressed in dresses and dress pants.
What you need to know is that the way you dress affects your session more than anything else.
If you want a white tee and jean type of session, it will turn out like just that.
If you want a formal session, with flowing dresses and everyone dressed up to their very best, it will turn out like just that.
As your photographer, it is 120% up to you concerning how you dress during your session. I can tell you that most clients are happier with their pictures if they dress formally and have full hair and makeup done during their session.
But, if you want a themed session, that is also an option as well!
To show how the outfit affects the session, here are a few sample pictures of different feels the outfits give off. Note that NONE of these are wrong or ugly, but that they all set off different vibes in the final outcome.
When booking your session, I have a few collages that I can show you to demonstrate different color-matching choices you may have when it comes to outfits.
All outfit collages are done by Wanderlust Photography.
If you feel you’d like to send me pictures of the outfits ahead of time, I would be more than happy to look over your different options.
Furthermore, if you’d like to go shopping one day to pick out outfits, we can create a package that includes a shopping day for choosing family outfits, as well as the session.
Know that your options are unlimited when it comes to outfits. You are in control of what the feeling of your session gives.
Here are some things you should NOT wear during your session:
- Shirts with large logos
- Flip flops
- Prints (plaid, stripes, dots, etc.) -One print per family is okay.
Here's what you SHOULD consider wearing during your session:
- Solid colors
- Neutrals
- Complimenting colors
- Full hair and makeup to accentuate features in camera
- Pants for men, dresses for women- This helps elongate your bodies in camera, making you look more tall and slender.
